Last weekend the old gang got together and ventured up to Coffs Harbour for a good friends wedding. We decided to drive the 7 hours instead of flying so we would have the car when we got up there , I’m sure it would have made more sense to fly and hire a car but we had golf clubs and other goodies to take up with us.
We had such a good time, I haven’t laughed so hard in ages. The Chemistry of the group is perfect, even if it’s been a while since we have seen each other it always feels like it was just yesterday when we catch up. The conversation flows so easily (as do the drinks) and there is always lots of side splitting laughter. Someone always manages to make a complete fool of themselves which gives us ample laughing material for our next catch up.
We were child free for the three days which was heaven. Sleep ins and no nappies to change was pure bliss, although I did miss their good night kisses and their morning snuggles when they jump in our bed.
I was totally spoilt by my girlfriend who sent me off for a massage which was then followed by a very relaxing lunch. Limited reception meant we were without internet and mobiles for most of the weekend, I was worried at first but completely enjoyed not checking my phone for e-mails and messages every 5 minutes.
Whilst the weather was pretty miserable the Wedding was so pretty and intimate. The bride and groom chose a lovely cafe in a garden centre that had a real romantic and vintage feel to it. Lots of great photo opportunities, especially when the birds gathered around for the ceremony, almost as if they had been formally invited.
It was a 9am Wedding followed by a very scrumptious breakfast. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the different start time as most of the Weddings we go to are in the late afternoon followed by a dinner reception.
Another plus side was the fact that the nursery was open for business so I managed a quick shop after the wedding was over (in my heels and ‘good’ clothes) much to my husbands dismay. I think my husbands words on the way home were something like ” you’re incredible, even at a wedding you manage to shop” I’m choosing to take that as a compliment.
The trip home was equally as good as the trip up, filled with stops in pretty little towns and listening to all our favourite music with no kiddy tunes!!
I thought I would share a couple of pics of the cake and other decorative accents that I thought were so pretty!
I hope you enjoy xxx
